Oil Rig Job Scam Concerns

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the personal reply. To be honest I have been following your Youtube videos & WOTR material for about 2 weeks now and I had my doubts about the integrity as we both know there are so many online scams.

One of the points you made early somewhere is how people can spend a lot of effort ( and money) in getting a stack of documentation (and to some degree additional useful knowledge) to increase their chances of getting offshore but not actually achieving that. Where I suspected this to be true is the sites with the top page ranking giving testimonials by punters who used the information and thanked the recruiters for helping them at a cost of about 200 bucks. But not one of these testimonials had any kind of proof that anyone actually got a job. In other words nice info but still looking for a job.

So as I say to be honest Matt I am a bit of sceptic but I am going to follow through to see if what you say is legit.

Mick

I think this is important because he has pretty much raised all of the concerns that I had when I was looking for a job on an oil rig and stumbled across the same sorts of web sites as what Mick is talking about.

There was nothing totally convincing about them as far as the testimonials go, no real proof of people who actually get a job. I have tried to address that straight away by including a testimonial from the very first person who I helped get a job on the rigs. Ben actually ended up on my crew for about six months so hopefully the photos of the two of us, along with his testimonial helps to relieve that concern.

When I first found the types of websites that Mick talks about I found them to be very impersonal and I just didn’t feel as though I could trust them. I couldn’t see who the owner of the site was and it just seemed like a random company that gave away very little about who they were. So can totally relate to what Mick has said in his email.

Offshore Oil Rigs

Mick mentions “getting a stack of documentation (and to some degree additional useful knowledge) to increase their chances of getting offshore” and I actually cover a bit about an alternative to that in my book. I am not going to go into too much detail here but I will quickly touch on it.

The vast majority of people that I talk to about oil rigs don’t even realise that they are both in the ocean and on the land (offshore and onshore rigs). Although there is more money to be made offshore the wages you can earn on an onshore rig are still worth pursuing and there are a number of advantages to onshore rigs that should also be considered. One of those advantages is that to go offshore there are a few courses that you will need to do that will leave you out of pocket before you even attempt to get a job. To get an onshore job there is no need to do these extra courses which will reduce your risk of spending lots of money upfront without guarantees of a position. I found this even more appealing because I didn’t really trust the companies offering the courses. You will learn more about this in my book.

Why Workontherigs.com Exists

The goal of workontherigs.com is to provide all the information that I wanted to be available to me when I was looking to get into the oil and gas industry. I believe that I have already done that but there is going to be continual updates as I feel as though there is still a lot more useful information and tips that I can provide.

I believe that the information provided on workontherigs.com combined with the direct access to the companies in the industry is already everything you will need to get into the industry. If you go through the information and you are still being held back then I would suggest that the one part that is holding you back is what I have given the term “the oil rig jobs myth” which you will also read about in my book if you happen to read that.

Value Or Scam?

In terms of what you will receive as a workontherigs.com member I like to look at the “value vs cost” balance. The first two measurable points of value comparison is when you compare workontherigs.com with the other oil rig job related websites and the expensive courses that teach you a little about the industry.

Websites that take in the range of a couple of hundred dollars for you to submit a resume seems rather expensive to me especially considering you have very little control over what happens after you hand in your resume. I believe that giving people the relevant information that they need to be able to successfully find jobs for themselves and access to the relative companies in the industry is of greater value than a “resume submitting service”.

Handing over a resume along with a fee also hands over the total control of what is happening with your search for a job. Giving you back that control is how workontherigs.com delivers value, and in my opinion it is value far beyond the $200 that you will pay through one of these recruiting agencies.

The other value comparison is for the training courses that you may have heard about. I am sure there are many types of these available but I do know of some that take about a week and cost in the range of $3000 – $3500 as well as travelling expenses. For your investment you will learn as much about rigs as you possibly can in a week but still no guarantee of a job.

In my book I share my thoughts on these courses. My opinion is certainly not favourable but it is for good reason and I do explain my point of view. I even offer a better alternative to those who are hell bent on spending money on courses before applying for a job. However I am not going to go into detail about that here because it would be unfair to those who have bought my book.

What all this means is that if a workontherigs.com membership offers more value than a $200 comparative purchase and can also explain why a $3500 course is not necessary, then I believe that the value received by workontherigs.com members is far greater than the purchase price.

The workontherigs.com Guarantee

I have tried to deliver this information at the lowest possible price while trying to deliver as much value as possible. Here is the statement that you can take to be the workontherig.com guarantee – the intention of workontherigs.com is to deliver 10 x the value of the purchase price!

When you use the means of comparison shown above I believe that I have been able to do that. Not to mention the fact that I have proof that the information I have provided has successfully helped others get a job in the industry.

If however that for whatever reason you disagree with me and don’t believe that I have delivered more value that the purchase price, I have made my product 100% money back guaranteed. I have taken on all of the risk of the transaction. My guarantee is backed by Clickbank so you can go and check out their website. You will see that at any given time they hold enough of my money to honour any necessary guarantees so there is absolutely no risk to you. To date workontherigs.com has not given a single refund.

So hopefully I have been able to address your concerns. I have also tried to develop this site in a way that would have made me feel comfortable when I was in a similar position. As you can see my videos are not professionally done and you probably have noticed that the workontherigs.com website is certainly not the most flashy and technical site out there. That is because I do everything myself and it is my hope that through seeing my videos that you will get to see a little bit more about who I am. I believe that it is not the quality of my site and videos but the content that needs to deliver and impress.

Thank you Mick for sharing your concerns as you are certainly not alone. The world would be a far better place with a few less of those “scam” websites that you talked about and I certainly want to do everything I can to not be one of them. If all else fails Mick and integrity is still a concern, I believe that I am the only Matthew Cinnamond living on the Gold Coast, Queensland so I shouldn’t be too hard to track down.

Hope that is of some help to you, take care and I wish you the best of luck getting a job on an oil rig.

Regards,

Matt
